Patient's question:
I have candidiasis and have been taking medication for 11 days. The other night, I felt itchy in my vagina, and this morning when I woke up, there was some swelling! A few days ago, I went to the hospital, and the doctor said it was nothing, maybe it was a bit swollen due to some friction! He prescribed magnesium sulfate for me! But I feel like the swelling is getting bigger and bigger! It hurts so much! What should I do?Doctor's answer:
Hello! During vaginal inflammation, due to the discharge of bacteria-containing leukorrhea from the vagina, it can cause local vulvitis at the external genitalia, leading to new inflammation with clinical symptoms of redness, swelling, heat, and pain. You can use external vulvar washes such as magnesium sulfate or feminine hygiene liquids to clean the affected area, and then apply tetracycline ointment. This creates an oily protective layer on the vulva, preventing the spread of new bacteria-containing leukorrhea and also reducing friction between the vulvas, which may cause mucosal damage or ulcers, thereby alleviating infection. You must absolutely not scratch with your hands, and avoid using hot water to wash the vulva, as this can easily lead to ulcers. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
