Features: This book is based on the original edition BusinessExplorer published by Cambridge University Press. The set consists of three volumes, accompanied by a teacher's book, listening CDs for the student's book, and audio cassettes for the student's book. Each volume contains 15 units, covering all aspects from initial meetings to business negotiations, with rich and up-to-date content. To complement this book, the "BULATS Exam Guide" has also been released, including the BULATS candidate handbook, demonstration CD, sample papers, and answer keys.
BULATS Introduction: BULATS stands for Business Language Testing Service, an acronym for "Business Language Testing Service," translated as BOSI. It is a language assessment service related to professional activities, used in areas such as job seeking and recruitment, human resource management, internal corporate management, corporate training, and language training. Currently, BULATS offers English, French, German, and Spanish examination services, developed jointly by the KoBaLT Group, formed by Cambridge Assessment English (UCLE) and other members of the Association of Language Testing Authorities (ALTE). The British Council is responsible for the quality supervision and distribution of the exam. In mainland China, the Human Resources and Social Security Administration's Human Resources Examination Center is the sole general agent for BULATS, responsible for promoting the exam nationwide. Currently, BULATS has established branch agents in 12 provincial and municipal human resources examination institutions, including Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hebei, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Xiamen, Hangzhou, and Qingdao.
Target Audience: BULATS primarily targets professionals in various workplace settings, as well as students and employees studying language or business courses. To facilitate self-study, we have compiled the companion "New Cambridge Professional English (1): Study Guide." During the compilation process, we focused on the following points:
1. Faithfully adhere to the original work without adding unnecessary content. All question requirements and texts in the book have been translated into Chinese to meet learners' needs.
2. Added annotations to each text and audio script. In addition to explaining difficulties and key points, each unit includes relevant cultural background knowledge to help learners understand differences between cultures and overcome weaknesses in English expression influenced by Chinese thinking. The writing section includes writing prompts to provide learners with specific guidance, and supplementary expressions have been added as needed.
3. Added content on the principles, skills, and email writing rules that should be followed in business activities.
4. To align with the BULATS exam, we have analyzed the reading and general knowledge sections of BULATS sample papers to help candidates understand the exam content and question types.
5. This book also includes simulated exam questions such as listening, vocabulary, reading, and fill-in-the-blanks after each unit to deepen students' understanding and mastery of the content, as well as help them better grasp the types and difficulty levels of BULATS questions.
