Vaginal leukoplakia, how is it treated?

Patient's question:

Suffered from the condition for 2 years, the external genitalia turned white, itchy, and swollen. Examination results: Biopsy revealed external genitalia dystrophy. Previous treatment history and effectiveness: Microwaves, used fish glycerin, ineffective. Undergone surgery, much better than before but still itchy. Currently using triamcinolone acetonide and econazole cream.

Doctor's answer:

Patients with vulvar leukoplakia should not undergo surgery if there is no severe dysplasia in the vulvar skin. The recurrence rate after surgery is very high. Some doctors have conducted experiments: they transplanted the skin from the leukoplakia area to another area, and the leukoplakia skin could return to normal in the new location; however, when normal skin was transplanted to the vulvar area, inflammation recurred again. It is not advisable to use triamcinolone acetonide and econazole cream for a long time, as it can easily lead to rejection. I recommend using the adult-type vulvar leukoplakia repair ointment, which works very well.
