Patient's question:
What are the symptoms of varicocele? I've recently been feeling damp and hot in my scrotum, and I sweat a lot. Coincidentally, during a physical check-up at my workplace, I was diagnosed with varicocele. This is the first time I've heard of this condition, and I hope the doctor can explain what symptoms varicocele may cause and what causes this disease.Doctor's answer:
The symptoms of varicocele are mainly manifested in the following ways:1. In the early stage, when standing, the dilated veins are not visible on the scrotal skin, but the dilated veins can be felt inside the scrotum. When lying down, the dilated veins disappear quickly.
2. Later, when standing, the dilated veins are visible on the scrotum, and the dilated veins inside the scrotum can be felt more distinctly. The symptoms of varicocele have become relatively obvious.
3. In the later stage, the scrotal surface has obvious thick, large blood vessels, and the scrotum contains prominent, worm-like dilated veins with thickened and hardened vein walls. When lying down, the veins disappear slowly. In cases of severe scrotal varicocele, or when sperm count is below 20 million for three consecutive times or when testicular atrophy is present, patients who can have the dilated veins disappear when lying down may undergo high ligation of the internal spermatic vein.
