Oral medications such as metronidazole, at a dose of 200mg per time, three times daily, for a 7-day course, should be administered. After completion, a trichomoniasis test should be conducted. If the result is negative, another course of treatment should be continued after the next menstrual period to consolidate the efficacy. Both partners should be treated simultaneously. Note that metronidazole should not be taken orally during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Additionally, local treatment should be administered concurrently. For example, after evening (showering), 200mg of metronidazole can be inserted. A 10-day course can be followed. Alternatively, one tablet of (diveijing) can be inserted. During the treatment period, underwear and washing towels should be boiled for 5–10 minutes to ensure disinfection.
In daily life, attention should be paid to:
1. Maintaining personal hygiene, keeping the external genital area clean, changing underwear frequently, and using personal external genital hygiene products exclusively.
2. Improving public health facilities, such as public restrooms, swimming pools, and bathtubs. Take precautions to prevent cross-infection in public places.
3. Both partners should receive treatment simultaneously and be checked for recovery. Avoid sexual activity during the treatment period.
4. Use vaginal suppositories correctly under the guidance of a doctor. When mixing topical solutions, pay attention to the concentration.
5. Disinfect frequently contacted items, such as bath towels and underwear, during the treatment period. Boiling for 5–10 minutes can eliminate the parasites.
6. The standard for recovery is a negative result in vaginal discharge tests after three menstrual cycles.
