How to properly treat candidiasis?

Patient's question:

Hello!
I just found out I have candidiasis and, under the guidance of a doctor, I have been taking fluconazole, soda solution for rinsing, and Daktarin suppositories. This is the fourth day of medication. I heard that this condition is prone to recurrence. I would like to know how to prevent it from recurring, what precautions to take, whether underwear and pants need to be disinfected daily, and whether my husband also needs treatment and how he should be treated. Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Candida is the main causative agent of candidal vulvovaginitis. The main manifestations include vaginal mucosal congestion, erosion, and a white membrane coating the surface. The discharge is white or yellowish curd-like, accompanied by itching or mild burning sensation. During the acute phase, the discharge increases, becoming thick and white or cheese-like. Local medications, such as miconazole troches (200mg per night for 7 days) or clotrimazole troches (150mg per night for 7 days), can be used. Before local medication, a 2%-4% sodium bicarbonate solution can be used to rinse the vagina. Systemic medications include fluconazole 150mg taken as a single dose, or itraconazole 200-400mg per dose, taken orally for 5 days. The specific treatment should be determined based on your symptoms, physical examination, and relevant auxiliary tests. Additionally, when experiencing external genital itching, avoid using hot water to wash the area. Change and wash underwear frequently to maintain cleanliness and dryness of the external genital area. Used underwear should be boiled.
