Features: This book comes with a set of cards and one audio cassette. "Cambridge English Cards" is the core of the "1+1+1 Happy Cambridge" English learning system, developed by teachers of Beijing Vision School through practical experience. It is an excellent English learning method that can be used in conjunction with the audio cassette and sentence book. Originating from fun teaching, it is suitable for parents and children to play together, as well as for children to play alone. It serves a dual purpose of playing cards and fun learning! Parents should fully recognize the significant role of fun in children's English learning. The goal of playing English cards is to discard the traditional rote memorization method and introduce an engaging, child-friendly game-based learning approach to the early stages of English learning, addressing the major difficulty children face in learning English—the mastery of basic vocabulary and sentence patterns! It is particularly noteworthy that when playing English cards, children must say the words and sentences aloud, transforming silent, general-purpose card play into a meaningful, spoken play! Whether played alone or alongside, regular play of English cards can yield twice the result with half the effort! The fun gameplay can be used in schools or at home as entertainment, combining education with enjoyment, and can greatly improve the ability to memorize words and sentences!
1. Run-Up:
(1) Run-Up to Learn Words. Suitable for two or more players. Each card has a letter label, with A being the smallest and Z the largest, followed in order. After shuffling, players take turns drawing cards and placing them on top of each other in ascending order. The player who finishes first wins. The rule is to read the English word on the card while playing it. If the player cannot read the word, they cannot play that card. Run-Up to Learn Sentences (Advanced Play). After students become familiar with the words, they can start reading sentences while playing. This play is similar to "Run-Up to Learn Words," but instead of reading the word on the card, they must read the corresponding sentence.
(2) Run-Up to Learn Words (Beginner Play). Suitable for two or more players. Cards with the same letter label are played as pairs, following the same size order as single cards. The player with the fewest remaining cards wins. The rule is to read two English words consecutively before playing a card. If the player cannot read the word, they cannot play that card.
(2) Run-Up to Learn Sentences (Advanced Play). This play is similar to "Run-Up to Learn Words," but instead of reading the word on the card, they must read the corresponding sentence.
2. Match-Up:
(1) Match-Up to Learn Words (Beginner Play). Suitable for two or more players. Cards with the same letter label are played as pairs, following the same size order as single cards. The player with the fewest remaining cards wins. The rule is to read two English words consecutively before playing a card. If the player cannot read the word, they cannot play that card.
(2) Match-Up to Learn Sentences (Advanced Play). This play is similar to "Match-Up to Learn Words," but instead of reading the word on the card, they must read the corresponding sentence.
3. Three-in-a-Row:
(1) Three-in-a-Row to Learn Words (Beginner Play). Three consecutive cards with adjacent letter labels can be played as a "run." For example, ABC is smaller than BCD, and EFG is smaller than MNO, and so on. The rule is still to read the English word on the card. If the player cannot read the word, they cannot play that card.
(2) Three-in-a-Row to Learn Sentences (Advanced Play). This play is similar to "Three-in-a-Row to Learn Words," but instead of reading the word on the card, they must read the corresponding sentence.
4. Combo Card:
Combo Card to Learn Words (or Sentences). Combine the first three card play methods and play the English cards like playing poker. Other poker play methods can also be adapted as long as English words are read while playing. Students can be creative and invent their own ways.
5. Pull the Big Cart:
Pull the Big Cart to Learn Words (or Sentences). Played the same way as pulling the big cart in poker. After each player finishes drawing their cards, they combine them into a pile and play them in order. If a card matches the previously played card, the player can take back all the cards between the two. The player with the most cards wins. The rule is to read the word (or sentence) on the card while playing it. Otherwise, the card cannot be played.
Note: Due to the large number of cards, you can use previously learned word cards or take one from the bag. After using three slots, reshuffle and redistribute.
