How to terminate pregnancy in ectopic pregnancy

Patient's question:

I have been experiencing amenorrhea for over fifty days. Yesterday, I had some lower abdominal pain, and there was fresh blood in my underwear, which was also different in color from my usual menstruation. The doctor said I have an ectopic pregnancy. I would like to ask: How can an ectopic pregnancy be terminated in early pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy often shows no obvious symptoms before miscarriage or rupture, but it may include missed periods, abdominal pain, and a small amount of vaginal bleeding. After rupture, it manifests as acute severe abdominal pain, recurring episodes, vaginal bleeding, and even shock.
One treatment option is medical management. If diagnosed early, before the fallopian tube ruptures, and the patient does not wish to become pregnant, medication is the best choice, causing less harm to the patient. However, it cannot be used for those who wish to conceive, as the destroyed embryo often polarizes in place, leading to fallopian tube blockage.
The other option is fallopian tube fenestration and debridement. For ectopic pregnancies that have not ruptured or have small ruptures, laparoscopic surgery can be performed to open the fallopian tube, remove the embedded embryo, and then debride the area while preserving the function of the fallopian tube. This is now a treatment method for ectopic pregnancy.
