Breast tenderness is caused by what

Patient's question:

My partner and I had sexual intercourse last time, and I haven't had my period for more than a month since then. Recently, I've been feeling breast tenderness, they feel a bit hard when touched, and there's a sense of discomfort. I'm also very hungry, eating five meals a day, and feel weak all over, always feeling sleepy. I don't know what the reason is. Afterward, my breasts became increasingly hard, and the tenderness became more pronounced. Hello, what are the reasons for breast tenderness?

Doctor's answer:

Common physiological breast pain includes: breast pain during puberty, premenstrual breast pain, pregnancy-related breast pain, postpartum and post-abortion breast pain. Small lobe hyperplasia of the breast or benign cystic hyperplasia can also cause pain. Around 4–6 weeks of pregnancy, breast pain may reappear, which is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. Hormonal changes can also lead to mild breast pain, starting from the early stages of pregnancy. The fat layer of the breasts thickens, blood flow increases in the breast tissue, and this stimulates breast growth, causing the breasts to gradually shrink. The expansion of breast ducts may lead to breast enlargement, sensitivity, and pain. The areola and nipple area may darken, and dark brown nodules may appear around the nipple. After 12 weeks, there may be some watery milk secretion.
