A brilliant novelist, a brilliant archive! The emergence and development of modern Chinese fiction have already gone through a full century. During this century, countless writers and works have emerged. These works not only faithfully record the era's changes and inner journeys of our nation in modern society but also leave behind many valuable modern classics for our national literature. In this sense, it has long been necessary to compile a historical archive capable of documenting the literary achievements of modern fiction writers.
During this century, modern Chinese novelists have also made significant contributions to the development of modern Chinese fiction itself. Through their efforts, they have accumulated a wealth of creative experiences. These experiences differ from the equally rich artistic resources left by ancient Chinese writers in fiction creation due to their modern characteristics. At the same time, they differ from the fiction art experiences of foreign countries that influenced their emergence and development due to their national attributes. This unique experience, being both modern and national, ultimately enabled modern Chinese fiction to gradually forge its distinctive artistic character during its development in this century. As a result, modern Chinese fiction finally did not become a natural continuation of ancient Chinese fiction in the modern era, nor did it become an artistic imitation of modern fiction from Eastern and Western countries in China, but rather became a modern Chinese fiction with its own national characteristics.
