What causes pathological corpus luteum cysts?

Patient's question:

Recently, my diet hasn't been very regular, and sometimes I haven't been able to rest well, which has caused changes in my body. What is pathological corpus luteum cyst?

Doctor's answer:

Physiological ovarian cysts are mostly non-neoplastic cysts with a diameter less than 5 centimeters. These cysts are not tumors and are mostly benign, disappearing without the need for surgery. However, if the cyst is large, gradually decreases in size, or ruptures, surgery may be required. Pathological cysts are divided into two types: one is neoplastic, the most common being serous cystadenoma and mucinous cystadenoma; the other is non-neoplastic, the most common being endometriomas, also known as chocolate cysts.
