Features: This manual is a supplementary material for the undergraduate teaching of German at universities, titled Contemporary University German. Based on the actual situation of Chinese students, it combines new findings from foreign foreign language teaching methods research with successful experiences accumulated over many years in China's foreign language teaching. It aims to improve students' fundamental knowledge and skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing by integrating language training into real-life communication scenarios. The goal is to enable students to learn basic language knowledge and skills through communication, apply them in practice, and gradually meet the requirements of the teaching syllabus for language communicative competence. The manual is divided into two parts.
Part 1 provides specific teaching procedures and methods for the six lessons of the pronunciation course. It also summarizes the difficulties and problems Chinese students face in learning German pronunciation. For each lesson, it explains how Chinese or English pronunciation interferes with the correct production of the target sounds and suggests methods to overcome such interference. Given that the training of pronunciation and intonation cannot be isolated, students must imitate the pronunciation and intonation of native German speakers. Through repeated practice in simple communication scenarios involving listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students can truly master the rules of German pronunciation and intonation, achieving correct sounds and natural intonation. Therefore, we strongly emphasize the importance of practicing listening to recordings of native German speakers and integrating pronunciation and intonation training into all aspects of teaching.
Part 2 is the core of this manual, providing detailed teaching procedures and specific methods for each lesson of the basic course. Each lesson typically begins with a text, focusing on language communication. It first gives students a perceptual understanding, then summarizes grammatical rules and the concepts and usage of vocabulary. On this foundation, systematic oral and written exercises are conducted in real-life language contexts.
