Features: Materials are the foundation of human survival and the prerequisite for the development of modern industry, agriculture, national defense industry, and science and technology. Materials have become one of the key drivers of contemporary technological progress. Process, materials, and modern management often determine the success or failure of new technology products. Process and materials directly affect product performance and lifespan. The authors of this book aim to address this challenge and provide tools for material professionals and related personnel to solve it. After more than a decade of effort and through in-depth research, the original edition of "Common Metal Materials Handbook in China and Foreign" was comprehensively revised, supplemented, and improved based on extensive collection of domestic and international materials and current standards. This large-scale reference book has been rewritten to save significant human, material, financial, and time resources spent on searching for information on metal materials.
Since its official publication in 1990, the original edition of "Common Metal Materials Handbook in China and Foreign" has been distributed nationwide, with a total of 60,000 copies sold, receiving praise from relevant experts and readers. As standards are dynamic systems, material standards are no exception—they are constantly updated. Therefore, the new edition of this handbook not only compiles a large number of comparative tables of common metal materials in China and abroad but also corrects and supplements previously inaccurate comparisons based on the current level of modern material science.
In terms of physical properties of metal materials, the handbook provides relatively comprehensive data, serving as a reference for design material selection, process design, and tooling design. The content has been expanded to include zinc alloys, cast steel, and cutting tool material selection. All materials now include relevant content from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), with updated standards used and non-official measurement units converted. The authors strive to make this handbook a large-scale reference book that is rich in content, up-to-date in standards, comprehensive in data, accurate in comparisons, and easy to use in China.
