How long does a cesarean section take?

Patient's question:

My first one was a C-section and it's been eight years now. I'm currently 37 weeks + 4 with placenta maturity level 2+. I'd like to ask if I should have a C-section now or wait another week?

Doctor's answer:

If there are no abnormal symptoms with the fetus in your case, you can opt for a cesarean section. You should follow the advice of your attending physician based on your specific condition, and there is no need to be too anxious.
At 2 degrees, the placenta is already mature. I had a baby who was slightly over 2 degrees, but it was a cesarean section—not because I didn’t want to give birth naturally, but because my water broke.
Premature placental maturity is not good, as it means the baby won’t receive adequate nutrients inside the womb, forcing an early birth. Therefore, the maturity of the placenta has no direct correlation with the natural birth of the child—it is simply a data point doctors monitor for the child’s health.
Indeed, there are special circumstances where induction of labor or a cesarean section may be necessary. Don’t (blindly take excessive calcium), as it can also have negative effects on the child while promoting placental growth.
