Features: Song Shi Ji Shi is a collection of Song Dynasty poetry materials. Compiled by Li E (1692–1752) during the Qing Dynasty. It consists of 100 volumes, recording 3,812 Song Dynasty poets, each accompanied by a brief biography. It preserves poems through events and people through poems. This collection is both large in scale and high in quality. However, limited by the level of Song poetry research at the time, the book still contains many shortcomings. Mr. Qian Zhongshu began annotating Song Shi Ji Shi in the 1940s. Over decades of accumulation, this formed the valuable material for Song Shi Ji Shi Bu Ding (Supplement and Revision of Song Shi Ji Shi). The formal writing of Song Shi Ji Shi Bu Ding began in 1982. Over the following (about a dozen years), Mr. Qian devoted significant effort to extensively and deeply supplementing and correcting the content of Song Shi Ji Shi. Song Shi Ji Shi Bu Ding incorporates the achievements of Song Shi Xuan Zhu (Selected Song Poetry), once again demonstrating Mr. Qian's profound academic expertise. Its extensive citations and insightful arguments are sufficient to advance the study of Song poetry to a new level in academia.
