Features: To help college and high school students learn English effectively, we have developed this English-Chinese Multifunctional Dictionary based on the learning characteristics of native Chinese speakers, taking into account the actual learning situations of students at these levels. In accordance with the General English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools and the College English Teaching Syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education, and in combination with commonly used English textbooks in schools across the country, we have compiled this dictionary as a gift to all friends studying English. The strength of this dictionary lies in its "multifunctionality." By "multifunctionality," we mean that it not only provides Chinese definitions for entries but also includes functional sections such as collocations, usage, idioms, examples, distinctions, synonyms, antonyms, derivatives, and compound words. This approach offers a comprehensive and multi-faceted interpretation of English word usage, helping readers thoroughly master English vocabulary and achieve proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as success in various tests at all levels.
With more functions and richer content, the dictionary's word count would inevitably decrease, which might not meet users' needs. Therefore, we have adopted the "two-tier treatment method" in this dictionary. Words are categorized into "detailed explanations" and "concise explanations," with different treatments. Detailed explanations include relatively complete functional sections, while concise explanations list only the most important ones. Detailed entries are organized by part of speech, while concise entries are grouped together. This "two-tier treatment method" helps provide as much useful information as possible in as few pages as possible, increasing the dictionary's "value" and improving its "cost-effectiveness."
This dictionary was co-authored by experienced scholars and frontline teachers, featuring carefully selected vocabulary, rich content, accurate explanations, targeted learning support, ease of understanding and memorization, and natural example sentences that are worth imitating. It is an excellent reference book for learning English vocabulary.
Creating a dictionary is no easy task—it requires hard work and dedication.
