Emergency contraception now ectopic pregnancy

Patient's question:

Got divorced from my husband only a year ago, and I'm not ready to have children yet. But every time we have sex, my husband says it's not satisfying with a condom, so I always take emergency contraception after we finish?

Doctor's answer:

Classical Early Pregnancy-like Reactions
Classical early pregnancy-like reactions are relatively common, accounting for approximately 50% of users. The symptoms are usually more severe initially and gradually subside, which may be related to the body gradually recovering. In the early stages of medication, a small number of people may experience mild early pregnancy-like reactions again, such as nausea, dizziness, weakness, loss of appetite, fatigue, and dry heaving. These reactions often occur again during the first two weeks of medication. The reason is related to temporarily excessive estrogen levels, leading to water and sodium retention in the body and gastrointestinal dysfunction. Generally, after tolerating the medication for 2–3 months, the symptoms may naturally disappear or lessen. Scheduling medication time in the evening before bedtime can make daytime reactions milder. For more severe reactions, taking vitamin B6 (20 mg per dose, three times daily) may help. If the symptoms persist, switching to a new contraceptive with lower estrogen content may be considered.
