Patient's question:
I have cervical erosion of degree 2 and now I have a contraceptive ring. Will it have an impact? How should it be treated? Can medication cure it? What should I pay attention to?Doctor's answer:
IUDs may or may not have tail threads. Those with tail threads often cause a foreign body reaction, leading to an inflammatory response, which may reduce cervical erosion. As long as the TCT test is normal, there is no vaginal inflammation, no abnormal vaginal discharge odor, no changes in discharge characteristics, no itching, and no other infectious symptoms. Cervical erosion can be left untreated if it shows a disordered-like change. Regular TCT tests for the cervix are sufficient. If there are infectious symptoms, vaginal medication can be used. For young women, mild cervical erosion is a normal phenomenon, resulting from the effect of estrogen on the cervix and the regression of squamous epithelium, not a disease. Most primary care clinicians have this misconception, and in fact, the majority of cervical erosion cases are over-treated.
