Features: This book is primarily aimed at sports professionals and enthusiasts with a basic understanding of English, as well as English lovers, students from universities and colleges, and translation workers. The book categorizes common sports by event. Each event mainly includes four parts: common terminology, common sentences, international organizations and international competition names related to the event, and English translations of famous clubs and athletes. Additionally, we have dedicated a chapter to introducing Olympic knowledge, which we believe will help people understand the Olympics and learn related English expressions. The common terminology section is arranged in alphabetical order of English terms. The common sentences section is quite rich in content, listing sentences used by referees, athletes, spectators, and reporters in the order of the start, process, and end of competitions for each sport. Interspersed are introductions to the main rules of each sport, allowing readers to not only gain some knowledge of sports but also learn English, achieving two goals at once. Sports enthusiasts often see the names of countries mostly in abbreviations when watching the Olympics or major world competitions on TV. For this reason, the appendix lists the English abbreviations of countries and regions for reference and retrieval.
