Does doing surgery and leep surgery together affect pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I had an abortion procedure today without anesthesia. In addition to severe cervical erosion, I underwent both the abortion procedure and the LEEP surgery today. Will this interfere with future fertility?

Doctor's answer:

The loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is a minimally invasive surgery with a shallow depth of operation. Generally, it does not interfere with the function of the cervix. Of course, it does not exclude unexpected situations. Therefore, it is generally not recommended for women who are not pregnant to undergo the surgery. After undergoing a cervical erosion surgery, it may cause the elasticity of the cervix to change again. This has little impact on pregnancy but can significantly affect delivery, often requiring a cesarean section. It is recommended that you follow your doctor's advice for postoperative care, avoid sexual activity too soon after surgery, maintain good hygiene of the external genitalia, and undergo regular follow-up examinations.
