What causes cervical hypertrophy

Patient's question:

I've been divorced for about one or two years and haven't been able to get pregnant. I initially thought it wasn't a big deal because I'm young, but later, during a gynecological examination, I discovered that I had cervical hypertrophy. I don't understand how this condition came about. The doctor said it requires surgery to treat, and I'm unsure whether to proceed.
What kind of assistance I need: What are the causes of cervical hypertrophy?

Doctor's answer:

According to your description, in general, cervical hypertrophy is usually caused by long-term impact of chronic inflammation, congestion and edema of the cervical, fibrosis of glands and stroma, and may also involve mucus retention in the deep glands forming cysts. This leads to varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy, increased hardness, but the surface is often smooth, and sometimes cervical gland cysts may be observed. If there are no symptoms, it may not be addressed.
