Features: To adapt to the reform and development of China's medical and health system as well as the needs of the education system, this textbook was specifically compiled. During the writing process, it adhered to the requirements of "Three Basics," emphasizing the strengthening of fundamental theories, basic knowledge, and basic skills. It strives to achieve strong ideological, scientific, inspirational, advanced, and practical qualities, making it suitable not only as a textbook for undergraduate students of health management but also as a reference for other undergraduate medical disciplines, distance education students, and teaching and research personnel in various levels of social medicine. The book is mainly divided into three parts. The first part is an introduction to social medicine, covering the introduction, medical models and health perspectives, social factors and health, community health services, and social health strategies. The second part is research methods in social medicine, focusing on social survey methods, health status evaluation, health risk factor evaluation, and quality of life evaluation. The third part discusses social medicine issues among various main social groups, covering children and adolescents, women, the elderly, people with disabilities, as well as urban and rural social medicine issues.
The textbook has three main features. First, considering the rapidly evolving nature of social medicine theory and practice, it incorporates the latest data and research findings to maintain a contemporary relevance. Second, it prioritizes readability, catering to a broad readership with detailed examples and clear, easy-to-understand explanations to facilitate self-study. Third, it maintains the original systematic and logical structure of social medicine textbooks. While retaining the traditional format of previous social medicine textbooks, it also adds new content, such as incorporating individual and group prevention strategies in the section on social health strategies. This aims to broaden students' perspectives through a comparative analysis of these two strategies, helping them understand the need to weigh different options when selecting social health strategies.
