Publishing Date: 2003-08-01
Features: This classic collection includes the diagnostic and treatment content of various animal diseases from ancient veterinary books, agricultural books, and medical books published before 1949, excluding the fundamental theories of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and chapters on Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. For ease of reference, the classic is divided into nine sections: Preface, Medical Horse Section, Medical Camel Section, Medical Goat Section, Medical Pig Section, Medical Dog and Cat Section, Medical Poultry Section, and Medical Other Animals Section. Each section is further subdivided into multiple disease and symptom entries. When including content from ancient texts, the original text is preserved without general annotations. Obvious errors in transcription or printing have been corrected but without additional annotations. Different entries for the same disease or symptom from various ancient texts are generally arranged in chronological order. If the content is largely identical, the earlier or superior version is selected for inclusion. Traditional characters and variant characters in the original texts have been converted to simplified characters and standard characters. Measurement units are retained as they appear in the original texts without standardization. Punctuation follows current general rules, but no punctuation is added between multiple herbs in a complete prescription, with a space instead. The dosage and processing methods of each herb in the prescription are written in the same font size as the herb names, using a five-point font instead of a smaller font size and positioning them at the bottom. The names of Chinese herbal medicines and acupuncture points are not strictly standardized. At the end of each paragraph or continuous paragraphs of the original text, the name of the original work is noted in parentheses. The names of the original works generally adopt concise and conventional titles.
