Based on the framework and principles of the "Shanghai English Intermediate Interpreting Qualification Certificate Examination Syllabus," this book collects and compiles 120 short passages for English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translation, imitating the question types and requirements of the interpreting examination (Part 2 of the interpreting section). The content of these passages covers various aspects of social life, including language and culture, current affairs and politics, tourism and exploration, economics and business, education and employment, healthcare, and speeches and congratulations. The materials are selected widely, relevant, and appropriately challenging. Each passage is accompanied by hints on difficulties and reference translations, allowing candidates to assess their interpreting skills and exam readiness.
