Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (abbreviated as "subject Olympiad") is one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competitions for primary and secondary school students in China. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration from and extends the concept of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness, which are precisely the core content of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field across the country to sequentially compile and publish a series of Olympiad reading materials titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School," covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are arguably the most influential in the industry both domestically and internationally, and are considered the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby cultivating interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive teaching of problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on learning by example and generalizing from specific cases; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches to one problem; it prioritizes training thinking skills over rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions.
