Features: Practice learning includes two main components—harmonic ear training focused on vertical hearing and melodic dictation training focused on horizontal hearing. This textbook follows these two major components as its core learning framework. In ear training practice, written exercises and oral exercises (such as singing by ear, constructing melodies, and sight-singing) must be closely integrated and mutually supportive. Due to space limitations and to make the content more concise, this textbook primarily focuses on written exercises. It should be noted especially that harmonic ear training should be combined with extensive exercises in singing and constructing individual intervals, chords, and chord progressions, as well as with the analysis of actual musical works. Similarly, melodic dictation training should be combined with exercises in rhythm reading, constructing scale degrees, memorizing and singing melodies, and transposition singing, and must be closely linked with sight-singing at the same level. The integration of listening, writing, singing, and rhythm reading is the fundamental method for ear training practice. In addition to basic exercises, this textbook also includes preparatory exercises. The development of this textbook takes into account both teaching by instructors and self-study by students. It aims to provide teachers engaged in ear training instruction with comprehensive teaching content and systematic methods for ear training, while also serving as an important supplementary textbook for students at music conservatories learning ear training. For the vast number of amateur students preparing for exams, this textbook will help them conduct standardized, professional training, thereby comprehensively improving their ear training skills.
