Lin Xiaochu's Master's Journey at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Oil Painting Department

Author: Gong Liuchao, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-03-01
Features: This book selects graduate works from only four painting and sculpture majors—Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture—as well as three art design majors—environmental art, graphic design, and applied arts. Some of these graduate students are still studying in universities, some are about to graduate, and others have already completed their studies and become university teachers. Their works include both foundational painting exercises from their undergraduate years and research-stage works and research papers. Based on this, readers can comprehensively appreciate the diverse artistic personalities in their paintings and the varied research outcomes. The selected Ph.D. and master's students are among the outstanding students from numerous leading contemporary art academies in China, representing a certain level of excellence. Lin Xiaochu already showed great promise while pursuing his undergraduate degree in oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In November 2000, he was even sent by the Ministry of Culture to participate in the "APEC Youth Artists Invitational Exhibition" held in Brunei, where he was greeted by leaders such as Jiang Zemin, Bill Clinton, and Donald Tsang.
