Social Exploration of Sociology

Author: Fei Xiaotong
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-10-01
Features: Starting from the mid-to-late 1980s of the 20th century, Fei Lao wrote a large number of distinctive and self-contained academic self-narratives, self-revelations, retrospectives, reflections, and supplementary articles. These articles themselves were Fei Xiaotong's self-edited "Sociology Lectures." The content of this "Sociology Lectures" is the result of Fei Lao's sweat and even bloodshed in pursuit of the ideal of "enriching the people." He followed the tradition of field research in sociological anthropology, "walking step by step," discovering, summarizing, and elevating useful knowledge from the actual lives of the masses. Writing one article along the way, he produced a large number of investigation reports, theoretical works, and articles that were unconstrained by disciplinary boundaries, yet profound, straightforward, and eloquently written. This book is not a "sociology theory" or "sociology introduction" in the conventional sense. It does not start with concepts and theoretical systems, nor does it include all the main content that should be covered in sociology theory or sociology introductions. These articles merely reflect Fei Xiaotong's own understanding of sociological anthropology, as well as his summary and theoretical reflections on the development and practice of sociology in China.
