Features: In the past decade, cultural exchanges between China and other countries have become increasingly frequent. The cultural and education authorities have adopted various channels and methods, such as inviting experts in and sending people abroad, to promote academic exchanges. This has opened the doors of China's once music halls, providing opportunities for wind instrument enthusiasts to learn about international peers, absorb foreign cultures, master new techniques, and utilize new teaching materials and repertoire. As a result, the wind instrument industry in China has experienced a second leap forward, with its development progressing at an extremely rapid pace. To date, the wind instrument programs in music colleges across the country have become increasingly comprehensive, and wind instrument bands of various types have emerged one after another, forming a spectacular scene. There are now wind instrument bands in universities and colleges, industrial and mining enterprises, military and government agencies, rural areas, and primary and secondary schools. Various forms of wind instrument exchanges and competitions are held, and some provinces and cities have even established wind instrument associations. The vibrant development of wind instrument activities has prompted us to reflect on the long-term teaching practices in wind instrument education. Currently, the teaching materials and exercises we use are mostly passed down through generations, relying on manual copying and photocopying. In some small and medium-sized cities, there are no art schools or qualified wind instrument teachers, let alone teaching manuals. This situation is highly unfavorable to the popularization, development, and improvement of wind instrument education in China. Therefore, we have organized a series of wind instrument exercise books, compiled and edited by wind instrument experts and professors.
