Features: A young man born in Taiwan, an ordinary youth, struggles for his American dream and eventually becomes a scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the United States. Everything seemed so peaceful, but overnight, he became the enemy of the entire U.S. government and almost the entire United States: Did he sell U.S. nuclear secrets to China? Would these secrets place the entire United States under nuclear threat? Guilty or innocent? Would he face the death penalty? Does the United States have racial discrimination? Why did the judge take unprecedented measures in court to publicly apologize to WinHoLee? This is the real story of WinHoLee, a Chinese-American scientist. From his personal struggles, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1972, to his success in career and family; from holding a Q-level security clearance from the U.S. government and being a respected nuclear scientist, to becoming a prisoner of the government; from the unfair treatment he endured in prison to the judge's eventual public apology in court—My Country Accuses Me—WinHoLee's Autobiography, which will soon be launched by Jiangnan Publishing House with exclusive Chinese copyright, faithfully records the entire WinHoLee case, revealing the U.S. judicial and law enforcement systems, human rights environment, and even the prejudices of the U.S. minority toward ethnic Chinese and other minorities, as well as the biases of some Americans toward China, all before the readers' eyes.
Dr. WinHoLee, a scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the United States, was an ordinary American citizen, a "bench scientist" who never sought the spotlight. Yet suddenly, his name and photo appeared on the front pages of newspapers across the country, making him a "world spy." The deep political reasons behind the so-called "WinHoLee spy case" were: U.S. authorities discovered that China had successfully miniaturized nuclear warheads and suspected that China had stolen U.S. nuclear secrets, leading them to start investigating the alleged leak based on circumstantial evidence. Without his knowledge, the FBI had been targeting him as a suspect. WinHoLee was dismissed from the lab, his family lived in fear, his friends were implicated, and his prison life was perilous. His life thus plunged into darkness.
