Whole Yuan Wen (VI)

Author: Li Xiusheng
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1998-12-01
Features: This book aims to collect Han Chinese single-paragraph prose, parallel prose, and rhyming texts (excluding poetry, qu and ci) from the Yuan Dynasty. The time frame for the writers included in this book is generally based on the Jin Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty. Writers from the original Jin territory are included up to the year 1234 (the third year of the reign of Jin Aizong). Writers from the original Southern Song territory are included up to the year 1279 (the second year of the reign of Southern Song Zhao Xing). The lower limit is set at the year 1368 (the twenty-eighth year of the reign of Yuan Shundi). Writers who moved from the Jin or Southern Song Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty, or from the Yuan Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, and whose main activities took place in the Yuan Dynasty, are included as Yuan Dynasty writers. Following the principle of "letting the text follow the person," all works of writers already included are collected regardless of whether they were written during the Yuan Dynasty. Works in the classics, history, philosophy, and literature departments of Yuan Dynasty writers are generally only included as prefaces, postfaces, and single-paragraph Yuan texts cited in the books. However, works that can be considered collections, such as memorial essays in the history department, historical essays in the history department, and judgment collections in the philosophy department, are still included as collections. For the convenience of readers' references, the book is compiled according to the old method and divided into volumes. Each volume contains about 10,000 words of text, with more works by a single author spanning multiple volumes and fewer works by multiple authors in one volume. The Yuan texts included in this book are as far as possible based on good and complete copies. The main text follows the original text. If there are indeed errors in the original text, they are corrected and annotated. For general variations, annotations are not provided. Annotations are appended at the end of each piece. Minor errors in stroke order that are clearly due to printing mistakes are corrected. For each writer included in this book, a brief biography is written, introducing their name, courtesy name, title, posthumous name, birth and death years, place of origin, official career, main activities, writings, and the status of their works included in this book, with the sources of the historical materials cited. To facilitate readers' searches, in addition to the index of the book's volumes, appendices at the end of the book include the "Author Index of the Complete Yuan Texts," the "Title Index of the Complete Yuan Texts," and the "Bibliography of Works Cited Outside of the Separate Collections."
