Volume Table Practical Handbook

Author: Guang Zengyun
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2001-03-01
Features: This book is divided into three parts. The first part is the wood volume table, including tables for logs, fir logs, and sawn timber, as well as measurement rules for dimensions; the second part is the standing tree volume table, including binary volume tables for five tree species such as mountainous fir, masson pine, Chinese pine, locust, mixed broadleaf, plain and "four barren" poplar, Paulownia, elm, and broadleaf trees; the third part is the stump volume table, including unary and binary volume tables for stumps of the same tree species as the standing tree volume table. The features of this book are:
First, comprehensive and systematic content. It integrates wood, standing tree, and stump volume tables, forming a complete series of volume tables and filling the domestic gap.
Second, economical and practical. The wood volume table has changed the traditional method of listing volumes from 1 to 9 logs, now only listing the volume for 1 log; the standing tree and stump volume tables omit the diameter class table, saving a significant amount of space while avoiding calculation errors.
Third, illustrated with visuals. The measurement rules for wood dimensions include diagrams, making abstract rules more intuitive and easier to understand and use.
Fourth, wide applicability. The wood volume table is applicable to the calculation of volumes for all domestic tree species' logs, fir logs, and sawn timber. The standing tree volume table is based on the Ministry of Forestry's standard "Standing Tree Volume Table" and was compiled based on the original "Henan Province Standing Tree Volume Table" by the Henan Provincial Forest Survey and Design Institute. Since the binary standing tree volume table in the ministry standard uses a wheel scale diameter table, it was converted to a circumference scale diameter table by collecting and investigating the relationship between wheel and circumference scales in Henan Province. Therefore, it can be referenced for use in northern China. The unary standing tree volume table is a local volume table for Henan Province and can be referenced by provinces with similar surrounding conditions. The stump volume table is compiled based on the correlation between root diameter and chest diameter as a foundation for the standing tree volume table, with the same applicable range as the corresponding standing tree volume table.
This book is rich in content and accurate in data. It not only meets the measurement requirements for domestic logs, fir logs, and sawn timber but also fulfills the measurement needs for forest wood volume and calculating volumes from stump utilization. It is an essential practical reference for those engaged in wood production, management, forest resource surveys, forest resource asset assessments, scientific research, as well as forestry college students, faculty, urban and rural residents, and carpenters.
