Features: The Fengshen Yanyi, written by Xu Zhonglin and Li Yunxiang during the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty (1612–1672), organizes numerous tales of gods and demons within the historical framework of the King Wu's campaign against Zhou. Following the historical events of King Wu's rebellion and the establishment of the Zhou dynasty, the novel depicts the heavens divided into two factions: the Xiejiao, who support King Zhou, and the Chanjiao, who support King Wu. These factions engage in magical battles, each showcasing their abilities. Ultimately, King Zhou is defeated and burns himself to death, and Jiang Ziya enshrines the fallen heroes of both sides. All gods and demons achieve enlightenment, and the Three Teachings are unified. The characters in the book are unique, the imagination extraordinary, and it is considered one of the finest novels in ancient Chinese literature. The Illustrated Fengshen Yanyi published by this press is based on the Four Snows Studio edition, with reference to the Golden Gate Bookshop edition, and features 175 illustrations from the Illustrated Fengshen Yanyi printed by Shanghai Guangbai Songzhai in the 15th year of the Guangxu era (1889), preserved in the library of Peking University. This book is rich in both text and illustrations, exquisite in design, and printed in two colors, enhancing its collectible value and the enjoyment of reading.
