Can hydrosalpinx be treated?

Patient's question:

The daughter-in-law has not been able to conceive since her divorce, and both she and her son have a desire to get pregnant. Unfortunately, they went to the gynecology department for a thorough examination. The daughter-in-law was diagnosed with hydrosalpinx. Can hydrosalpinx be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Hydrosalpinx can be treated, but there is a possibility of complications after surgery. Hydrosalpinx is a manifestation of chronic inflammation of the fallopian tubes. Most patients have no obvious symptoms, while symptomatic patients may experience discomfort in one or both lower abdominal areas, increased vaginal discharge, etc. If the hydrosalpinx is mild, it can be treated with antibiotics, supplemented with physical therapy, and followed up with reexamination. In some cases, the hydrosalpinx may disappear after treatment. However, if there is a desire to conceive, surgical treatment is recommended.
