How is endometriosis caused?

Patient's question:

Recently after my menstrual period, the symptoms of dysmenorrhea became particularly severe. There were several times when the pain was so intense that it even caused me to vomit again. My husband took me to the hospital for a thorough examination, where it was discovered that I have endometriosis and was advised to have surgery for treatment. How is endometriosis caused?

Doctor's answer:

Endometriosis is generally caused by these factors: neglecting menstrual hygiene. During menstruation, women often experience pelvic congestion and uterine sensitivity. If they are overly emotional or irritable, or engage in intense exercise, especially have sexual intercourse during the period, it may increase the chance and volume of retrograde menstruation, thereby leading to endometriosis. Menstrual disorders, if menstrual cycles become prolonged or frequent, in addition to patients experiencing heavy menstrual flow and prolonged periods, may also increase the frequency and volume of menstrual blood flowing from the fallopian tubes to the pelvic cavity.
