Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as the subject Olympiad) is a competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest range, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration and extends from international competitions such as the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), and the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO). These are influential middle school subject competitions internationally, attracting millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in our field both domestically and internationally, and are highly regarded by primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written according to the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach to provide in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible yet achievable. The focus is on generalization and applying knowledge to different contexts; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches for a single problem; it prioritizes training thinking skills over rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
