Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as subject Olympiads) are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core content of quality education, which is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of excellent books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools," covering a total of more than 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
First: High. Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby cultivating interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
Second: Accurate. Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and teaching comprehensive and detailed problem-solving methods.
Third: Innovative. The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Fourth: Exquisite. Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on learning through examples and generalizing from specific cases; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches to problems, with an emphasis on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Fifth: Renowned. Gathered are famous teachers and collected are renowned competitions.
