What are the TCM patterns of pelvic inflammatory disease?

Patient's question:

During sexual intercourse, I always feel cervical pain and don't experience any pleasure. After sex, I notice small blood streaks. Due to the cervical pain, I don't want to be with my husband, but he is unwilling every time. I had a gynecological examination at the hospital, and the doctor said that the skin tearing during intercourse was caused by pelvic inflammatory disease. What are the TCM diagnostic patterns for pelvic inflammatory disease?

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a common gynecological condition in daily life. From a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, the pelvic cavity can be classified into two types: heat-toxin type and damp-heat type. Each type of PID has different symptoms.
Heat-toxin type:
Lower abdominal discomfort and distension, sometimes accompanied by headaches, yellow urine, and frequent constipation.
Damp-heat type:
Lower abdominal pain and distension, poor appetite, dry mouth and throat. Pay close attention to diet—avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and tobacco, as they can exacerbate symptoms. Also, avoid drinking excessive cold water.
