Does an ovarian cyst disappear during pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I am now 4 and a half months pregnant. I was previously diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. I heard from someone that ovarian cysts can gradually disappear during pregnancy. I wonder if ovarian cysts will disappear during pregnancy? If they cannot be treated now that I am pregnant, there is no treatment available, and I am afraid that delaying it will affect the child in the future.

Doctor's answer:

Under normal circumstances, ovarian cysts during pregnancy will never disappear. The only type of ovarian cyst that can disappear is a corpus luteum cyst, which will naturally regress over time. Ovarian cysts generally have minimal impact on pregnancy. Since you are already pregnant, further treatment is not recommended. You can first wait and see carefully. If there is no significant reduction in size or no obvious discomfort symptoms during this period, you can continue to monitor. If necessary, surgical treatment can be considered.
