Author's Note: The handsome boy in the photo is me—Deng Gan, the little master of this book. But don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because I can write these articles doesn’t mean I’m a student who only reads books and memorizes them. In reality, I’m a total "troublemaker." Rock music, computer games are my favorites, and I’m also deeply passionate about art and photography. Basketball and swimming are things I call myself "experts" in. All of these have driven me to observe things with care, think deeply, and then take notes seriously, which is how this book came to be. The dictionary offers no substantive explanation for the character "" in my name. I interpret it as "panning for gold in the water!" Panning for gold is a tough endeavor—it requires determination, confidence, and perseverance, and the same goes for writing essays. Moreover, to pan for gold, one must first be "true gold." This "true gold" refers to fundamental skills, and the same applies to writing good essays. I don’t believe in "explosive" methods for writing essays. The only shortcut is to learn more, observe more, and practice more. The 90 essays included in this book are written by a sixth-grade student who introduces the rich and diverse life of a boarding school through a unique perspective. With delicate brushwork, the book depicts the impact of the boarding school’s innovative educational methods on students, while vividly recording the learning lives, new teacher-student relationships, friendships among classmates, and the positive communication between parents and students. It reflects the improvement in the overall quality of boarding school students and the noteworthy phenomenon of their physical and psychological growth and maturity.
