What is the sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease?

Patient's question:

A few weeks ago, due to stomach discomfort, I went to the hospital for a diagnosis, which confirmed that I had pelvic inflammation. I underwent a period of physical therapy and took oral medication. Now, after a thorough examination at the hospital, it's almost healed, but I still feel stomach pain and a sensation of heaviness. What are the post-effects of pelvic inflammation?

Doctor's answer:

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is divided into chronic PID and acute PID. If acute PID is not treated promptly, it can lead to chronic PID. You have just completed treatment, and full recovery requires a process. The main sequelae are primarily the destruction of pelvic tissues and widespread adhesions, which can cause the fallopian tubes to thicken, or lead to fallopian tube (hydrosalpinx), or fallopian tube obstruction. This may result in infertility, and it is also prone to causing ectopic pregnancy. Additionally, it can lead to recurrent chronic pelvic pain.
