Patient's question:
Doctor, I am a woman. I am currently pregnant, but I have noticed that my nipples have become inverted. I am very worried that this might be the reason why my baby is reluctant to feed on my milk. Are there any effective methods to treat inverted nipples? Thank you!Doctor's answer:
Nipple inversion is a very common phenomenon in women who are not pregnant and can be caused by various different reasons. If already pregnant, it generally does not require treatment. As the breasts grow and develop during pregnancy, some cases can naturally return to normal. If the inversion is severe, a breast pump or frequent sucking by a partner can be used. This usually strengthens the nipple and will never affect the child's ability to breastfeed.
