Features: This book is the research outcome of a key project in the field of social sciences in China. Centered on the theme of how to incorporate environmental factors into economic decision-making, it explores from both theoretical and practical perspectives how to provide scientific evidence for decision-making through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The book first discusses the economic and institutional background of environmental issues, examining China's environmental situation and policy orientations. Then, it analyzes the economic impact of environmental factors from the following four aspects.
1. Environmental Impact and Macroeconomic Indicators: The author focuses on the theoretical level, enabling readers to gain a systematic understanding of the latest developments in international environmental-economic accounting and how to incorporate environmental factors into the national economic accounting system.
2. Economic Losses from Environmental Degradation in China: The author has previously estimated the economic losses from environmental degradation in China during the 1990s. Based on this, the author systematically discusses the issues and challenges in estimating the economic losses from environmental degradation from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
3. Techno-Economic Analysis and Policy Implications of Clean Coal Technology Application in China's Power Sector: Building on a comparative analysis of different technical solutions, the author conducts a systematic and in-depth exploration of the prospects for applying clean coal technology in the power sector and the policy support system.
4. General Equilibrium Analysis of the Impact of Environmental Goals on Economic Development: As a first attempt domestically, the author uses a CGE model jointly developed with the Policy Research Center at Monash University in Australia to simulate the impact of achieving environmental goals on economic development.
