What are the treatments for trichomoniasis?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower abdomen, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? What are the treatments for trichomoniasis?

Doctor's answer:

1. Medication treatment: Metronidazole, Tinidazole, and Trichomycin
2. Local treatment: For trichomoniasis vaginitis, first wipe the vaginal walls with a soap swab, then rinse the vagina with a 0.02% potassium permanganate solution or warm water, and finally wash with 1% lactic acid or 0.5% acetic acid and dry.
3. Metronidazole can be inserted into the posterior fornix of the vagina or sprayed inside the vagina once nightly or every other night. A course of 7–10 days is recommended, and 2–3 courses can be used consecutively.
4. Oral hygiene: Rinse the mouth with saltwater to maintain cleanliness, avoid eating sweet foods before bedtime, etc.
