Features: Since the publication of the Central Conservatory of Music's Examination Syllabus for Piano (Domestic and Overseas) in 1993, it has been widely welcomed and recognized across various regions in China and some overseas areas. Its emergence aligns with the trend of the widespread and rapid development of piano education, providing systematic and standardized teaching materials for thousands of people eager to learn the piano. Through this syllabus, they have been exposed to outstanding Chinese and Western piano cultures, receiving standardized professional music education and training. A significant number of them have already become or are currently becoming a reserve force for professional piano talent. This excellent syllabus has played a vital and irreplaceable role in enhancing the quality of music education for young people. However, with the deeper popularization of piano education and societal progress, both we and the teachers and students participating in amateur piano exams have gradually felt the shortcomings and limitations of this syllabus. Imagine using the same fixed exam syllabus unchanged for five years—it inherently fosters student dependency. In fact, this four-piece model for each level has already led to some drawbacks. Now, our experts have newly compiled the Piano (Amateur) Examination Syllabus. This new syllabus is born from the summary and continuous improvement of the old one, changing the previous practice of dividing pieces into two sets (A and B) and adopting a classification system with different series to expand the range of pieces, thus giving teachers and students more choices. Among them, we have retained some excellent pieces that have proven highly valuable in teaching over the past few years. Combined with the newly selected materials, they will help enhance the flexibility, diversity, and of piano learning. The use of this syllabus will contribute to broadening students' knowledge and improving their adaptability. With the birth of the new syllabus, the methods of piano exams will undergo some changes in the future. We will announce the exam pieces and requirements at an appropriate time before the exam. Of course, we will still allow candidates ample time for practice, but it will no longer be the "ten years in advance" scenario. It is evident that the publication of this new syllabus marks a significant improvement in the overall level of piano exams in our country.
