Features: The current volume, covering the years 1995-1998, documents and reflects the state of Chinese linguistic research and application during the four years from 1994 to 1997, compiling relevant materials. The content design and format of this volume maintain the original characteristics of previous annuals, but have also been appropriately adjusted in response to changes in disciplinary development and the practical needs of research and teaching. These adjustments include the addition of overviews of research in core linguistic disciplines, as well as an increased focus on research overviews in applied linguistic disciplines, particularly in language teaching research. Efforts have been made to reflect the dynamics of modern language and language teaching methods. To facilitate an understanding of Taiwan, this annual also features a special section titled "Overviews of Chinese Language Teaching in Taiwan," in addition to introducing developments in Chinese language research and teaching abroad. These adjustments are expected to be beneficial to a broad readership, especially experts, professors, and scholars engaged in linguistic and script research and teaching.
