What are the treatment methods for chronic cervical inflammation

Patient's question:

I used to have vaginitis, but it always recurs. Recently, I've been feeling constant lower abdominal discomfort and pain, which worsens during sexual activity. There's also pain in the waist area. My discharge has been quite abundant. After going to the hospital for a follow-up examination, the doctor discovered that I have chronic cervicitis. How should it be treated?

Doctor's answer:

The treatment method involves local vaginal irrigation and topical medication: this is the most commonly used approach. Irrigation can be performed using a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, a 1:1000 solution of povidone-iodine, a 1% acetic acid solution, or a 0.5–1% lactic acid solution. For mild superficial cases, cotton swabs can be used to apply a 5–10% tincture of iodine or a 5–10% silver nitrate solution to erode the erosive areas locally, once a week, which can promote the healing of the erosive surfaces. However, care must be taken to prevent the solution from leaking onto normal mucosa outside the inflamed area. The daily treatment for patients with cervicitis primarily involves medication. Patients can take oral medications and supplement them with vitamins, while also paying attention to their diet by consuming light, soft, and easily digestible foods. It is hoped that patients with cervicitis can recover as soon as possible.
