Selected Works of Mao Zedong (Bound in Cloth · Complete Four Volumes)

Author: Mao Zedong
Publisher:
Publication Date: 1998-12-01
Features: This collection is divided into four volumes, with each volume containing four books, making a total of sixteen books in the set. This anthology includes important works of Comrade Mao Zedong during various periods of the Chinese revolution. Several years ago, different versions of the Selected Works of Mao Zedong were published in various places, but none were reviewed by the author. These versions were quite disorganized and contained errors, and some important works were even omitted. The current anthology is edited according to the historical periods the Communist Party of China has gone through, as well as in chronological order of the works. This anthology has made every effort to collect important works that were not included in the previously published collections. Each work in the anthology has been reviewed by the author, with some minor textual corrections made by the author in certain places, and a few articles have been supplemented and revised in terms of content. Below are a few statements related to publishing matters:
First, the currently published anthology is still not complete. Due to the destruction of revolutionary literature by the counter-revolutionary forces of the Kuomintang and the loss of revolutionary literature during long-term wars, we are still unable to find all of Comrade Mao Zedong’s works, especially many of his letters and telegrams (which constitute a significant portion of his writings).
Second, some once-popular works, such as Investigation in the Countryside, were not included in this anthology in accordance with the author’s wishes. Similarly, Economic Problems and the Financial Problem was included only with the chapter titled Basic Summary of Past Work.
Third, the anthology includes annotations. Some of these are explanatory notes attached at the end of each article’s title page, while others are either politically or technically oriented and are appended at the end of the respective articles.
Fourth, this anthology is available in two binding formats: one is a single-volume edition combining works from all periods, and the other is a four-volume edition. The first volume of the four-volume edition includes works from the period of the First and Second Revolutionary Wars; the second and third volumes include works from the War of Resistance Against Japan; and the fourth volume includes works from the Third Revolutionary War.
