Features: The editing of Xunxin Diao Long: A Collection of Materials was proposed by the Chinese Xunxin Diao Long Society based on the suggestion of its honorary president, Mr. Wang Yuanhua. During the planning process, it received enthusiastic support and active assistance from the Committee of Ancient Studies in Higher Education. After discussion, it was decided that the Chinese Xunxin Diao Long Society and the Committee of Ancient Studies in Higher Education would jointly edit and publish the series.
Liu Xie's Xunxin Diao Long is one of the greatest literary theory and criticism works in ancient China. It comprehensively and systematically summarizes the achievements of literary development before the Qi and Liang dynasties, constructs a complete literary theory system, proposes a series of important literary theoretical categories, and lays the foundation for the formation of the national tradition of ancient Chinese literary theory and criticism. It has been highly regarded and widely studied throughout the development of literary theory and criticism in successive dynasties. Many of its important literary theoretical viewpoints have also been cited by contemporary literary critics and are valued by the international field of Sinology.
To date, scholars have published approximately 2,800 research articles and more than 200 monographs on Xunxin Diao Long. It has become a prominent field of study, often referred to by experts specializing in Xunxin Diao Long research as "Dragon Studies." To create a more prosperous new era for the study of Xunxin Diao Long in the 21st century, it is both necessary and meaningful to compile a series of Xunxin Diao Long materials. After careful consideration and with the approval of the Committee of Ancient Studies in Higher Education, the Chinese Xunxin Diao Long Society has decided to begin by organizing and reprinting important editions of Xunxin Diao Long, and then expand further to include significant research works from past dynasties.
It is hoped that the publication of this series will provide convenience for overseas researchers and readers of Xunxin Diao Long, and play a positive role in advancing the development of its study.
