What is the treatment plan for cervical erosion during pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I used to be very careless about hygiene when I was still married to my husband, so I had gynecological problems, but I didn't get treated. After the divorce, I found out I was pregnant. When I had a thorough check-up for the baby, they said I had cervical erosion, and I was very worried about my baby.

Doctor's answer:

The vast majority of women experience varying degrees of cervical erosion after marriage. During pregnancy, as the gestational age progresses, the levels of estrogen and progesterone in a pregnant woman's body continue to rise, causing the columnar epithelium of the cervix to migrate outward, leading to fibrosis of the tissue and a significant worsening of cervical erosion symptoms, which can easily result in vaginal bleeding. Excessive sexual activity, overconsumption of spicy or "hot" foods such as chocolate, chili peppers, and longans, or hot pot meals can also exacerbate bleeding symptoms. This type of bleeding differs from the bleeding caused by uterine contractions during a natural miscarriage, which leads to bleeding as the placenta detaches from the uterine wall, and it does not directly affect the fetal development.
